DESCRIPTION:

Cocoa Butter is the pressed fat from the seeds, also known as Cacao Beans, of the Cocoa/Cacao Tree (Theobroma cacao L.). Packed with antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins E & K, stearic acid, palmitic acid and linoleic acid, Cocoa Butter is an AMAZING addition to any DIY skin or hair product recipe. Cocoa butter is made by squeezing the oil and fat from cacao seeds. Cocoa Butter is extremely nourishing, healing and moisturising and is suited to many applications including anti-wrinkle creams, soaps, hand creams, lip balms, skin balms, lotions, moisturisers and to reduce the appearance and formation of stretch marks.

Cocoa Butter is fantastic for dry, cracked and damaged skin and has been known to help prevent skin irritations. Cocoa Butter has strong moisturising abilities to soften and nourish dry, ageing or damaged skin.

This is an oil soluble ingredient that can be applied directly to the skin in any concentration. It is usually blended with a lower melting point oil or butter to increase the spreadability.

This product is packaged and intended for cosmetic use. For external use only, not for consumption.

HOW TO USE:

Gently melt the Cocoa Butter using a low heat. It can then be used to make homemade beauty creations. Cacao butter is also a great ingredient to add to DIY beauty treatments for a natural moisturising effect. Cocoa Butter melts at around 35C and can be used in so many different ways. It is perfect for making a wide range of beauty products such as body butter, lip balms, moisturisers, and stretch mark treatments. You can even use Cacao butter as treatment for sunburn and scar tissue.

SKINCARE RECIPE

COCOA BUTTER AND TALLOW BALM RECIPE

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons of Virgin Cocoa Butter

2 tablespoons 100% Pure Beef Tallow (100% Pure Halal or 100% Pure Grass Fed and Finished) or use Coconut Oil or Shea Butter for a vegan option.

3 tablespoons of Jojoba Oil

5-10 drops skin safe essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

1.     Melt the Cocoa Butter.

2.     Place the Cocoa butter and Tallow in a heatproof bowl or pot.

3.     Set the bowl over a pot of simmering water to melt (double boiler method).

4.     Stir occasionally until both the Cocoa butter and Tallow are completely melted. Remove the bowl from the heat.

5.     Mix in the Jojoba Oil and stir well to combine.

6.     Optional- If you wish to add essential oils for their benefits/ properties or fragrance, allow the mixture time to cool slightly before adding 5-10 drops of your preferred essential oil.

7.     Stir well

8.     Pour the mixture into a clean, dry container.

9.     Allow it to cool at room temperature or place it in the refrigerator to speed up the solidification process.

Usage:

-       Once solidified, the mixture will have a balm-like texture. Alternatively if you prefer a lighter fluffy texture you can whip then product (you would do this when it has softly solidified, generally after about 30 minutes). This product can be used as an all rounder product. Use on lips, face, body, hair, any dry spots. Suitable for the whole family (you may wish to leave out the essential oils if you are using this on children or those with sensitive skin).

-       Take a small amount and rub it between your palms to warm it up before applying it to your skin.

-       Use it as a moisturiser for dry areas like elbows, knees, and hands, or as an all-over body butter.
